What is the Church's responsibility regarding sin among us? How do we deal with a so-called Christian who lives a life of disobedience? Some have started "inquisitions" while others have brushed things under the rug in the name of toleration. Neither of these responses are biblical. If we are silent, we fail to recognize God's calling on His church to be holy. If we become modern day Pharisees, we run the risk of allowing legalism to shape our ecclesiology. These restorative conversations are inevitable in our midst, yet if we are wise, they can prove to be remarkably life giving. Sin is indeed a cancer among us and if we continue to ignore its presence and influence, our distinction will become nonexistent and our evangelistic voice will become muted.
